The resources listed below represent a sample of the online content geared to adult learners. Some resources, such as CollectEdNY were specifically created in coordination with NYSED. Others are external resources with links to content created by third parties. This list is not exhaustive, but each link below has been vetted by Adult Education Program and Policy staff to ensure its appropriateness. While this site is monitored and updated regularly it is important to view materials before assigning them to students, and to reach out to specific website contacts should you have questions. Please note, this list is not an endorsement of any website or product and all persons are encouraged to exercise caution when visiting linked content.

Visit, CollectEdNY. CollectEdNY is a collection of resources created specifically for New York State educators who are preparing students for high school equivalency and beyond. Resources include Fast Track Math GRASP Packets, We Speak NYC video series with supplemental learning materials, and Distance Learning Lessons. There is no cost to using any CollectEdNY resources.  

Visit, PBS Learning Media. PBS Learning Media is a free digital media service for educational use, brought to you by the New York State public broadcasting stations and their partners. This site provides access to thousands of media resources, support materials, tools for classroom lessons, and individualized learning programs. These videos provide instruction and include all  five subject areas on the HSE/TASC™ test. 

Visit, the Khan Academy to access a vast library of free teacher and student learning resources. Topics covered include math, science, computing, history and more including K-14 and test preparation. The website also includes remote learning resources.

Visit, the New York Online Virtual Electronic Library to access a database of library resources and access to important websites for job seekers including the NYS JobZone and the Department of Labor’s CareerOneStop. This website provides convenient one-click access to resources for adult learners as well.

Visit, the We Speak NYC , formally We Are New York, the City’s English Language Learning program. This video series focuses on issues such as education, health, workforce development, adult education, and social services among other topics. This series is supported by the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs.

Visit, Math is Fun for a variety of free, sequential math lessons. The site is regularly updated and includes printable worksheets as well as self-paced math lessons. Resources for teachers are also included and the site covers math topics ranging from numbers to algebra and physics.

Visit, Marshall Adult Education: Reading Skills for Today’s Adults where you will find leveled reading sections that are appropriate for adult learners. The focus of readings includes Civics, Employment, School, Government, and Health and Wellness. Readings can be completed on the site or printed. This website is maintained by Marshall Adult Education, a lead agency in an Adult Basic Education consortium located in Minnesota.

Visit, p2gmath to find sequential HSE math lessons. This website is maintained by the NYC Department of Education, Pathways to Graduation. The materials were designed to align to the TASC math subtest, and the site offers both an instructor and student portal to access content.

Visit, GCFLearnFree.org to find free lessons on essential skills needed to live and work. This includes tutorials on Microsoft Office and email, to reading and math. The website contains self-paced lessons, videos, and games. GCFLearnFree.org is a program of Goodwill Community Foundation and Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina Inc.
