Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision

BPSS Staffing Update

TO:              Owners/Directors, Proprietary Schools

FROM:         Joseph P. Frey, Assistant Commissioner

SUBJECT:    Bureau Staffing Update

The Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision has recently lost four support staff personnel, unexpectedly.   The positions are currently in the process of being filled.  A temporary support person has been hired in the interim.  However, there has been, and will continue to be, temporary processing delays.

We are doing everything we can to continue to offer quality service to both schools and the public.  Nevertheless, we need to ask that you be cognizant of the fact that we are working with a reduced staff.  By submitting complete applications, you will allow our staff to spend less time returning applications to you for more information and more time in issuing and mailing out approvals.

In addition, it would be helpful if you did not make telephone inquiries for simple status checks.  The most expeditious approach is to send an e-mail to either the BPSS general mailbox, or directly to individual office staff.  All staff e-mail addresses are available on our website.

We are continuing to advocate for greater staffing capacities in our amended pending legislation, which we hope to present to the Legislature this session.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.  Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
