Language of New Proprietary School Law
On August 17, 2012, Governor Cuomo signed into law amendments to Sections 5001 through 5010 of Education Law. The amendments go into effect 120 days after the Law was signed meaning they will be effective as of December 15, 2012. In order to provide schools an opportunity to review the new law prior to its implementation, two links are being provided.
The first presents the contents that are being deleted from the old law (through strike out marks through the font) as well as new language which is underlined. That information can be found at StatuteOld_New.pdf.
The second version contains only the language that will be in effect after December 15, 2012 and can be found at http://public.leginfo.state.LAWSSEAFny.us/LAWSSEAF.cgi?QUERYTYPE=LAWS+&QUERYDATA=@SLEDN0T6A101+&LIST=LAW+&BROWSER=EXPLORER+&TOKEN=10335972+&TARGET=VIEW
The Bureau will be working on regulatory reform to further implement the new law. Comment from schools, other interested parties, and the general public will be solicited once draft regulations are promulgated.
