Hospitality Management Teaching Requirements
For a non-renewable, 1 year permit:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Hospitality Management.
OR;
- Baccalaureate Degree;
Four years of documented work (not teaching) experience in the field; and
- 12 semester hours in business related areas.
(for example, courses in management or marketing, computers, business English, business communications, management information systems, business law, business ownership, business math, accounting, recordkeeping, economics, etc.)
OR
- Associate Degree in Hospitality Management; and
- Two years of documented work (not teaching) experience in
the field.
For a non-renewable, 3 year provisional license:
- All of the requirements for the permit;
- 3 semester hours (or 30 clock hours at an approved professional
school association) of coursework in methods of teaching; and
- 1 year of approved teaching experience (or college supervised student teaching).
- All of the requirements for the provisional license;
- 12 additional semester hours (beyond those required for the
permit) in business or business related courses;
- 3 semester hours (or 60 additional clock hours at an approved
professional school association) of coursework in professional
education; and
- 1 additional year of teaching experience beyond the requirement for the provisional license.
