Become a Member of the New York State Rehabilitation Council (SRC)

The New York State Education Department's Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking individuals interested in making a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities by becoming a member of the New York State Rehabilitation Council (SRC).

Under the Federal Rehabilitation Act mandate, the SRC works in partnership with ACCES-VR to support the provision of effective and timely vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities.  At least 51% of the SRC membership must include people with disabilities with the rest of the members representing a number of other constituencies and the public. In addition SRC membership must also include gender, age and racial/ethnic diversity.

Currently, ACCES-VR is soliciting membership from the following constituents to serve on the SRC effective January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2023:

  • A Parent Training and Information Center (PTIC) established pursuant to Section 682(a) of the Individuals with Disabilities Act
  • Business, Industry and Labor
  • Directors of projects providing services to Native Americans under Section 121 of the Rehabilitation Act

Terms of service are three years with the option of an invitation to serve for another consecutive three-year term.  All members must participate in the full SRC meetings which are held quarterly in Albany and on at least one Committee that holds monthly tele-conferences.  Participation in the quarterly SRC meetings may be via tele-conference or in person.  Travel expenses to attend the Albany meetings are reimbursed. Additional information on the SRC may be obtained by visiting: ACCES-VR's SRC webpage, or you may contact ACCES-VR for more information at 518-486-7490.

Although the SRC is specifically interested in members who fit the qualifications listed above, interested individuals who have a disability, or who represent providers of services to people with disabilities, advocacy groups, parents and others are encouraged to apply.

To indicate your interest, please send a resume, cover letter, and attached application (fill in) by June 21, 2019 via email to or fax 518-473-6073 (Attention: Jennifer Semonite).  In your application, please highlight your experience and how you might contribute to the work of the SRC.

 Thank you for your consideration.
