The Cactus Academy, Ltd To Close On September 30, 2016

August 23, 2016

Dear Cactus Academy, LTD Current Student:

The Cactus Academy, LTD will close on September 30, 2016. In light of the school’s impending closure, students present at the school on August 23, 2016 were informed of options available to them by staff from The Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision (BPSS), of the New York State Education Department. These options are as follows:

  1. Students whose current schedule will allow completion of the program by September 30, 2016 will not be affected by the closing.  Your diploma would be issued by The Cactus Academy, LTD.  The school is an institution accredited by NACCAS and licensed by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) until September 30, 2016.
  2. You may choose to enroll in a teach-out school that BPSS has approved to enable you to finish your training. Additional information on approved teach-out schools is provided below. If you choose this option, the existing tuition, financial aid, and all other terms and conditions set forth in your original enrollment agreement with The Cactus Academy, LTD would be honored by the teach-out school.  You would continue your program at a cost no more than you would have paid to attend The Cactus Academy, LTD.  Costs for make-up hours should be the same as they were at The Cactus Academy, LTD.  You will be evaluated by the teach-out school to determine your appropriate placement. Remedial assistance will be available if you require it.  The teach-out schools are also accredited by NACCAS and licensed by NYSED. Your diploma will be issued by the teach-out school you choose. Any additional support you may need after completing the training will be provided by the teach-out school.

If you choose to attend one of the teach-out schools, you will have up to one week to assess whether it is satisfactory. If within one week you are not satisfied with the program provided by the teach-out school, you can cease attending and file a complaint immediately with BPSS.  As a result, you may be eligible for a tuition reimbursement.

Be advised that you must make your decision before November 1, 2016.  It is educationally unsound and schools may not be required to follow the teach-out plan.

  1. You may decide not to enroll in a teach-out school. If so, The Cactus Academy, LTD will refund all monies paid by you or on your behalf as required by law.  Refunds will be made to the source of funds.  If The Cactus Academy, LTD does not pay, you can file a complaint immediately with BPSS.

Students who receive full refunds will not receive transcripts.
