New Esthetics Curriculum in effect beginning June 18, 2018

Date:
Friday, May 4, 2018
News Description:

All appearance enhancement curricula, including esthetics, are under the authority of the New York State Department of State (DOS). The DOS amended its current regulations for the esthetics curriculum and adopted curricular revisions, along with associated performance objectives.  Implementation of the amended curriculum takes effect on June 18, 2018.  It is the school’s responsibility to update their training program in accordance with the revised curriculum and learning objectives. Once the revised curriculum has been implemented statewide, DOS will commence with revising the esthetics exam which is required for licensure as an esthetician.

BPSS process:

  1. The BPSS Curriculum Unit will upload the revised esthetics curriculum into your school’s Curriculum Queue.
  2. You are required to email a letter  - on your school’s official letterhead  - to BPSSCurriculum@nysed.gov that states that you have received the (attached) amended curriculum, understand the new requirements and will begin teaching the amended curriculum effective June 18, 2018.
  3. Be sure to include the name of your school and state, “Letter for Esthetics Curriculum,”  on the email subject line.
  4. Please contact me, or the Curriculum Unit at the email address indicated above, if you have any questions.
