School administers exam that follows DOH curriculum. Must use questions from test banks from approved publishers. Before starting the first class, BPSS and school must create a school DOH Commerce Unit account and Homecare Registry webpage for school to enter graduates.

However, a CNA with 1 or more years of full-time work experience within the past 5 years may go to a DOH licensed home care agency with a training program - and take a competency evaluation to obtain the HHA certificate.

Patient Care Technician (PCT) Student already has a CNA certificate and pursues training in EKG and Phlebotomy. The total number of hours will vary, with about 50 hours for EKG and 50-60 hours for phlebotomy.  School creates exam from BPSS approved curriculum. NYS currently (2016) does not have mandated curriculum for EKG and Phlebotomy.
