About the Scholarship Award

Marge Tierney was a leader in the field of rehabilitation and a strong advocate for people with disabilities. Her 33-year career was dedicated to the development of quality services that would enhance employment and community independence opportunities for people with disabilities. Under Marge’s leadership as the Director of District Office Administration between 1999-2003, VESID (now ACCES-VR) staff placed 63,313 individuals with disabilities in jobs. One of Marge’s other passions was the education and training of rehabilitation professionals. Marge believed that trained professionals were key to ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive quality and effective services.

To remember Marge’s achievements and dedication, a scholarship has been established in her name. Each year an individual enrolled in a graduate program in rehabilitation counseling will be awarded up to $1,000 for use in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.

The scholarship is awarded annually and provides successful applicants with financial assistance to help defray costs of tuition, books and other college-related expenses.
